Our Club is once again supporting the local community by working in partnership with SECC (South Eastern Community Connect).
We are helping to fund a programme called RAGE. It consists of 3 workshops focussed on helping youth (age 11 to 15) to manage their anger.

Two of the workshops target young men and the third provides parents and carers with skills to help the youth involved. RAGE is proven to be an effective programme and our Club is glad of the opportunity to support young people of low socio-economic and migrant backgrounds who are having difficulty working through a history of trauma, fear and misunderstanding. The emotions experienced can translate to anger. The programme provides a safe place for youth to express their anger and learn ways to manage it in a healthy way. RAGE is a preventative programme that aims to prevent anger becoming  the background of adult behaviour which in turn translates into violence and social isolation.

It is expected that this project will be underway in October- November this year.

Youth Connect Project

At a recent Board Meeting it was agreed that the Rotary Club of Maroubra would donate $ 2,000 worth of foodstuffs and personal hygiene products to South Eastern Community Connect to support locals (particularly those in places like Eastlakes) facing food insecurity in the pandemic.

We conducted a successful food delivery drive several months ago and SECC, as well as the recipients, were very grateful.

Any member, supporter or friend of RC Maroubra who wishes to personally donate cash to this project to add to our donation is welcome to do so. Just send it to our Project Account marked "SECC" and it will be added to our purchase.
